Volunteering Are you looking for a place to give your time? Are you located in the Fredericton Area? Are you 19 years old or older?

As a Volunteer You Would:
Our training is comprehensive and free. You would attend 65 hours of sessions on the following topics:

* Active Listening
* Crisis & Suicide Intervention
* Stress Management & Problem Solving
* Abuse & Violence
* Addiction & Grief

* Family Issues
* Mental Health
* Social Issues
* As well as on-going training topics to help you stay informed

 

Volunteer Requirements
All volunteers:

* Are asked to commit to a minimum of 6 months of volunteering
* Are expected to volunteer 3-4 shifts per month
* Should be compassionate, understanding and non-judgmental

Other things to consider before applying:
Chimo Helpline has two training sessions a year in which we accept up to 20 volunteers (per training).

Training begins the first weekend in October and February..
Application deadlines are the 23rd of September and January.

Training Schedule:
Week 1: Saturday and Sunday - ASIST Suicide Intervention (9:00 am - 5:00 pm - may finish early).

Week 2: Saturday and Sunday - Practical Skills & Crisis Intervention (9:00am- 5:00pm)


All training sessions are mandatory. We cannot allow anyone to take calls unless they have their Suicide Intervention Certificate.
Security checks will be required.

Due to the type of calls and responsibility to the community, Chimo reserves the right to refuse or discontinue a volunteer's participation in training.
